Greensburg, PA

Greensburg: current home to several friends. Past home of a few more. Reason enough for a visit for us! There were not many options for RV overnighting in the Greensburg area from late October into early November. We found ourselves hunkered down at a KOA 20 minutes outside of the bumbling city of Greensburg. A KOA with an amazing (and still inflated!) jumping pillow, but scant running opportunities if you didn’t want to possibly die by car or truck speeding down a narrow road. The perks of a good KOA We found ourselves driving out to meet the various rail…

Kane, PA

Red Bridge Campground in Kane, PA provided us the perfect decompression environment after a busy, mostly bucket-filling two-and-a-half-weeks in Rochester, NY. Red Bridge Campground No, you didn’t miss a blog. I have written numerous blogs about our stop-overs in Rochester, NY in the past, and am choosing not to write another this go-round. We did thoroughly enjoy our time there. We camped out in Webster Park. Attended a much-loved friend’s wedding. We loved on and were loved by friends and family. I ran 50 miles around Canandaigua Lake (my favorite ultra). We took Lucy to the vet, where she reminded…

Pine Grove, PA

After spending the past several months pulled by the temptation, and concurrent need for creativity in participating in visits and fun time with family and friends, we headed South – intent on spending a few weeks in nowhere. Pennsylvania has large swaths of ‘nowhere’. Jake staked out a swath of nowhere that happened to promise trails and an hour’s proximity to a Wegmans. We found ourselves at an off-season RV Resort in Pine Grove, PA, where we stayed for two weeks. Two glorious, quiet, weeks dotted with morning runs and two trips to Wegmans. Twin Pines RV Resort, Pine Grove,…

Erie, PA

Presque Isle, Erie, PA Regroup. After spending months either rolling around with guests (which we love to do!) and then parking longer than desired back ‘home’ to take care of some family business, we three really needed to regroup. And regrouping is what Erie, PA provided us. We rolled out of Owego, NY with no firmness about where our wheels would take us. After a pitstop for lunch with Jake’s family in Olean, NY, we ended our day in Erie, PA. When Erie popped into our brains, we figured we’d just park overnight at the casino again, and then head…

Hershey, PA

We’re heading South. And guess what? HERSHEY, PA IS SOUTH! Have I told you lately that I love candy? We rolled into Hershey Park Camping Resort on a Thursday and picked out a pull through spot before heading down into town to grab some hot chocolate. Because we’re only in Hershey for 4 days – and I fully intend to fill those four days with chocolate. The campground wasn’t a ‘great deal’ financially, but it was a ‘great deal’ in that it was close to all things chocolate. And, we occasionally caught wiffs of chocolate wafting in the air from…

Mt. Pleasant, PA

Well, shit.   “Uh, Jake – SHIT – we have an oil problem. As in, Dyna’s ass is covered in it. And also, the Jeep’s face is covered too” – me, probably, yelling across the parking lot at a rest stop to Jake So, about those oil splatters we have been mostly ignoring on and off since Florida. They have turned from ‘light dusting’ to ‘torrential’. Shit. Luckily, we noted this new level of oil situation at 3:45pm on a Friday afternoon somewhere on some highway between Columbus and Pittsburgh. So, finding a knowledgable any diesel engine dude/woman was super easy damned…
