Albuquerque, NM (and another zip trip to Colorado)

Great news everybody! We made it from Las Cruces to Albuquerque and didn’t stop at a repair shop! Not even once! Party like it’s right now because it is! We pulled into an (overpriced) RV park outside of Albuquerque on Valentines Day fueled by cupid themed candy. I like candy. I like themed candy even more. After pulling in, hooking up, and sacrificing to the RV gods for allowing us an uneventful 3 hour passage, we set out to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I love me a holiday. Especially one involving candy. We’ve settled into a pretty solid routine of celebrating…

Las Cruces, NM

We started our stay in Las Cruces with a trip to the repair shop. Luckily, it wasn’t for repairs, but just an oil change and generator service. We pulled into Cummins El Paso (ok, so our stay in Las Cruces is going to start with more time in El Paso) at around 7am, hoping to get out by noon. Because noon seems like a good time of day to drive to Las Cruces. And also, it’s an oil change. And a gen service. 5 hours seems plenty. Secret Cummins Shop surprise! We were in the shop until 6:30pm. Because apparently…

Carlsbad, NM & Our First Real ‘Wildcamp’

After surviving the alien infested city of Roswell, we decided to spend a weekend checking out the bats near Carlsbad, NM.  We also decided that it would be a great opportunity to test out our ‘wildcamping’ or ‘boondocking’ skills (which typically involves finding some public/friendly land, parking your rig, and living out of it) since there didn’t appear to be too many great RV Park options nearby.  Plus, we really like the word ‘free’.  We’re finally getting the hang of the whole ‘not run your engine battery/house battery down’ when not plugged in deal (Jake is still playing with the…

Roswell, NM

Welcome to the city of believers! Can’t even drink your liquid diabetes without aliens drinking it too. An equal opportunity heart attack instigator. From October 9th-16th, we were surrounded by conspiracy theorists, a ton of bugs, and possibly aliens.  We decided to stay a bit outside of the city of Roswell in a State Park called Bottomless Lakes.  We chose to stay there because it was pretty cheap for full hook-ups, it touted FREE wifi (so much uploading happened during our stay!), and we tend to like the State Park scene better than the RV park scene. We got lucky…

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

Headed into ‘the land of enchantment’! The last 3 months (& first 3 months!) of our travels have been geared towards slowly, but surely, driving Dyna towards Albuquerque, New Mexico.  We took the ‘long way’ around Utah and Colorado to get here and now, we are HERE!  Here’s a fun fact: Jake reserved camping spaces at the Fiesta two months before we had found or bought Dyna.  We had been told that spaces are limited and popular and thankfully, my ‘always on top of things’ partner, Jake, was cognisant that Fiesta was not something we could miss.  Thank heavens for him!   …
