Denver, CO (Round 4)

Denver, how we love thee. Let me count three of the ways: We have a sweet moochdocking spot in Denver, courtesy of our friend Holly. She provides us with 15amps of electricity, access to her shower and bathroom, and as many Henry snuggles (her Golden retriever) as we can handle. The running from her house isn’t half bad either – a mile or so on side-walked streets plops you onto the Cherry Creek Trail.Denver has both Torchy’s Tacos AND Voodoo Donuts. All nutritional needs are met in Denver.Ample access to mountain related activities, such as, but not limited to: Avalanche…

Ditching Dyna: 2 Months In Rochester, NY

On August 1st, 2018, Jake, Lucy and I packed up some clothes and sundries, battened down the hatches, and ditched Dyna in the yard of our friend Jeffy’s parents’ home in Brockport, NY. We popped a few laundry baskets of random crap into the Jeep and moved into a short term lease apartment at the Sibley Center in downtown Rochester. For 72 days we basked in the glory of unlimited hot, high-pressured showers, a dish washer, unlimited unwrinkled laundry powers, and the ability to regulate the temperature of a room consistently. We didn’t have to ‘flush twice’ (empty our poop…

Denver, CO (Round 3)

We came back. We always come back. How can we not? One of our favorite people on earth, a sweet free place to park, a vibrant city, VooDoo Donuts and now – Torchy’s Tacos is in town too? Thanks for welcoming us back, Denver. Dayum, you look good. There aren’t too many things that could make us leave a boondocking space as sweet as the one we found outside of Northrop, CO after staying only a few days. The promise of Holly can. And the threat of missing out on Holly (hey, that girl travels! She’s got shit to do…

Newark Valley, NY

We limped into my mom’s driveway early afternoon on May 15th happy to be able to put our oil coated levelers down somewhere familiar. Because: oil. It’s still everywhere. I (Liz) grew up a few towns over from where my mom now resides in a lovely old house on the main street of a tiny town in the Southern Tier of NY. I was pretty stoked to see that the lilacs were blooming when we pulled in. It’s been a few years since I’ve smelled lilacs. We spent a few weeks poking around in Dyna’s innards. Well, realistically, Jake &…

Mt. Pleasant, PA

Well, shit.   “Uh, Jake – SHIT – we have an oil problem. As in, Dyna’s ass is covered in it. And also, the Jeep’s face is covered too” – me, probably, yelling across the parking lot at a rest stop to Jake So, about those oil splatters we have been mostly ignoring on and off since Florida. They have turned from ‘light dusting’ to ‘torrential’. Shit. Luckily, we noted this new level of oil situation at 3:45pm on a Friday afternoon somewhere on some highway between Columbus and Pittsburgh. So, finding a knowledgable any diesel engine dude/woman was super easy damned…

Fort Collins, CO

We love Colorado. A lot. Fantastic beer. Amazing opportunities for outdoor activities. Ghost towns. The Rockies almost always looming in the distance. Adventure culture. But there is more in Colorado for us to love than just the ‘Colorado’ of Colorado.  We’ve got people here.  And the people let us moochdock in their driveway. And they cook us food and share adult beverages with us. And they are generally more kind, thoughtful, and engaging than is probably warranted. So, we spent several very relaxing, engaging days with living as neighbors to Micheal and Robin. We shared food. And wine. And beer.…
